Research Summary<\/span>\u00a0\u2003<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The shrimp production in Thailand has been substantially dropped during the period from 2012 to present due to the outbreak of re-emerging infectious diseases especially white spot syndrome virus (WSSV). Thus, the insight into shrimp antiviral immunity is required for the invention of the effective biocontrol and the development of disease resistant lines. These lead to my research plans
as follows:

\u2003\u2003\u2003\u2003\u2003 (1) To study basic knowledge on shrimp antiviral immune-related genes\/proteins. Previously, several shrimp immune systems are identified such as, the production of antimicrobial peptide by activating signaling pathway, melanin production by prophenoloxidase cascade, and regulation of immune responsive gene\/ protein by small RNA (siRNA, miRNA, and piRNA). By now, the innate immunity of crustacean has still more information need to be investigated.
According to our previous research, the transcriptome databases of shrimp in several conditions including normal, pathogen infection, and non-lethal heat shock condition, were sequenced by next-generation sequencing technique. The immune responsive genes will be selected and characterized their functions.
\u2003\u2003\u2003\u2003\u2003 Moreover, these researches will be linked the knowledge of antiviral genes\/proteins functions to understand mechanism of antiviral immunity in shrimp.

\u2003\u2003\u2003\u2003\u2003 (2) To help the shrimp farmer solve the outbreak promptly by improving genes or proteins to become therapeutic agents. Previously, the non-lethal heat shock (NLHS) following by the production of damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) can enhance protection against bacterial and viral infections through immune activation. Moreover, the investigation of molecules or substances that can activate shrimp innate immunity might be the new strategy that will provide basic knowledge and probably develop of the new therapeutic
agent for controlling diseases in shrimp aquaculture.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
