Ph.D. Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering
MB has proven to me that this place is definitely an Institute of knowledge and training. It is recognized as one of the leaders in the field that has trustworthy standard in scientific research.
I started my PhD journey in 2011 with the kind support of the Thailand Research Fund — the Royal Golden Jubilee PhD scholarship (TRF-RGJ) in the Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (MGGE) program at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences (MB), Mahidol University. During my study, I was intensively trained in molecular biology techniques as well as in research methodology. By working with my skillful advisor and experts, I gained valuable experience and confidence in doing scientific research. Friendly colleagues also boosted my motivation in science. Moreover, since MGGE is an international program, English is regularly used in classes which helped increase my confidence to use English for both casual and formal communication. All of these really made a delightful working environment.
In 2015, I was sponsored by the TRF-RGJ scholarship and the French Embassy to undertake research at the Cancer Research Center of Lyon, France. The majority of the research there focused on cancer which was fairly different from my research background of Thalassaemia and viruses. However, it scarcely caused any problems. I could apply both my basic knowledge and my laboratory skills, especially as I had been trained extensively in cell biology and related areas. After working in France for a year, I certainly developed more understanding of cancer research and the associated skills. Besides, my most unforgettable experience there might be learning the French culture and developing new friendships.
After my intensive six years here, MB has proven to me that this place is definitely an Institute of knowledge and training. It is recognized as one of the leaders in the field that has trustworthy standard in scientific research. I have discovered myself and improved my capability. MB has prepared people like me for the next chapters in our scientific careers, and is continuously contributing to benefit our Thai society.
