The Institute of Molecular Biosciences (MB) hosted an international conference on Extracellular Vesicles to advance global biomedical research and foster innovation.
On October 20-21, 2025, the Institute of Molecular Biosciences (MB), Mahidol University, hosted an international conference titled “Extracellular Vesicles – New Horizons in Theranostics and Beyond” at the Asia Hotel, Bangkok.
The event was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Mahidol University, was warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. M.L. Saovaros Svasti, Ph.D., Director of the Institute of Molecular Biosciences, Mahidol University.
The conference offered a platform for researchers, scientists, and experts from many disciplines to exchange knowledge. It highlighted Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) and genetically modified animal models as key tools for developing new therapeutics and biopharmaceuticals—advancing precision medicine and theranostics.
Distinguished international speakers were invited to share their expertise, including:
Dr. Kenneth W. Witwer, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, USA, and President of the International Society of Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV)
Mr. Michiel Pegtel, Cancer Center Amsterdam, Amsterdam UMC, The Netherlands, and Director of the AMC/VUmc-CCA Liquid Biopsy Center (LBC)
Dr. Takahiro Ochiya, Division of Molecular and Cellular Medicine, National Cancer Center Research Institute, Japan, and former President of ISEV
Dr. Tan Sik Loo, Tissue Engineering Group (TEG), National Orthopaedic Center of Excellence for Research & Learning (NOCERAL), Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Malaysia
The Extracellular Vesicles 2025 Conference drew over 200 participants, including researchers and scientists from Thailand and abroad. Physicians, medical technologists, and biomedical professionals with an interest in EV-based diagnostic and therapeutic applications attended the conference. Young scientists, students, and representatives from biotech industries and startups joined to share ideas and explore ways to commercialize scientific research.
This conference highlighted Mahidol University’s Institute of Molecular Biosciences as a leader in advanced biological research. The Institute remains committed to global scientific collaboration. Its initiatives aim to drive new biotechnology that enhances human health and quality of life worldwide.
